Tile Is the Exception Worth Discussing
Carpet comes up in an afternoon. Tile does not.
Tile removal is slow, loud, extremely dusty and occasionally reveals a substrate that needs work. It is the one element we price separately and honestly, because pretending it is trivial is how customers end up with a revised invoice.
We assess how much there is and how well it is bonded at the estimate, and we tell you how we will contain the dust before we start. In Carrollwood, Northdale and Lake Magdalene — where dated entryway tile is common — this comes up constantly.
Asbestos and Older Homes
Some sheet vinyl and adhesives in homes built before roughly 1985 can contain asbestos. If we see something suspect in an older Plant City, Seminole Heights or Temple Terrace property, we will stop and tell you rather than sand or disturb it.
Testing is inexpensive and it is the right call. We are not licensed abatement contractors and we will say so.
Where It Goes
Debris is removed from your property the same day wherever possible. On carpet specifically, see carpet recycling and disposal — a good deal of it need not go to landfill.
Common Questions
Is haul-away really included?
For carpet, padding, tack strip, laminate and existing plank, yes. Tile removal is priced separately because it is genuinely a different job.
Will there be dust?
With tile, yes — a lot. We contain it and tell you in advance what to expect.
What about asbestos in an old floor?
If we suspect it, we stop and recommend testing. We do not disturb material that might contain it.
