Insurance Claims & Water Damage.
Burst supply line, failed water heater, roof leak after a storm. Florida produces a lot of wet floors, and the flooring half of the claim is where homeowners most often get short-changed.
What We Do
- Written, itemised scope of the flooring damage and the cost to put it right — the document your adjuster actually needs.
- Photographs of the affected areas and the material.
- Identification of the existing product where possible, which matters for matching and for continuous-flooring arguments.
- Replacement installation once the claim settles and the structure is dry.
The Continuous Flooring Argument
The most common dispute in a flooring claim is scope. An insurer may offer to replace flooring only in the affected room. But if that floor runs continuously into three other rooms with no break, replacing one room leaves you with a visible mismatch through an open-plan space.
Whether continuous flooring is covered depends on your policy and your adjuster. What we can do is document clearly that the flooring runs continuously and that the product is no longer available in a matching batch — which is the factual basis the argument rests on.
We are flooring contractors, not public adjusters or attorneys. We provide the facts; the claim is between you and your insurer.
Dry It Before You Floor It
Do not let anyone install a new floor over a substrate that has not been properly dried and tested. Trapped moisture in a slab will lift a new floating floor and void the warranty, and you will be paying for the same floor twice.
If a remediation company has been in, ask for the moisture readings. We will check the slab ourselves before we fit anything — see subfloor preparation.
Waterfront and Storm
In Apollo Beach, MiraBay, Ruskin, Oldsmar and Clearwater we see storm and surge-related flooring work regularly. Where a property has taken water more than once, the specification conversation changes — there are products that survive a wetting and products that do not, and it is worth choosing deliberately rather than replacing like for like.
Common Questions
Do you work directly with insurance companies?
We provide the written scope, itemised pricing and photographs your adjuster needs. The claim itself stays between you and your insurer.
My insurer only wants to replace one room. Can you help?
We can document that the flooring runs continuously and that a matching batch is unavailable. That is the factual basis for a wider scope, though the coverage decision is your insurer's.
How soon can you start after a leak?
Not until the structure is properly dried and tested. Fitting over a wet slab is how people end up paying twice.
